One Saddle Many Reasons

Selle An-Atomica patent design results from an exhaustive full time 4 year R&D effort. One of Tom Milton’s objectives was to design a saddle that would sell itself due to superior riding comfort and performance. Mr. Milton applied basic engineering development principles while examining human anatomy in motion during ever increasing road riding challenges. R&D findings compelled development of patent surface shapes, among other attributes, proprietary materials and manufacturing methods.

What makes Selle An-Atomica different?

1. Second Skin Watershed™ Leather is maintenance free and colorfast. It does not stain, bleed, or fade. (Eight standard leather colors with matching leather handlebar tape. Custom color available.)

2. No riding break-in period.

3. Anatomic 3D modeled rear frame and molded leather including bio engineered leather laminate layer and molded in sit bone silhouettes.

4. Anatomic perinea pressure relief slot.

5. Tension screw adjustment tunes saddle width and leather suspension providing remarkable body comfort.

6. Highest quality rails of CroMoly.

7. Frame with saddle bag loops.

8. Illustrated Adjustment Procedure Pamphlet.

9. Environmentally friendly aftermarket package. Eliminates throw away materials providing a shopping tote handbag.

According to recent consumer survey data traditional “plastic” saddle designs do not provide necessary rider comfort for nearly 80% of cyclists. Selle An-Atomica R&D findings and years of consumer use demonstrate that molded plastic bases covered with foam and gel padding will fail because this construction method does not provide essential biodynamic support and relief.

There are two important physical peculiarities in the pelvic girdle ischial tuberosities (aka sit bones);

  1. Asymmetry left to right.
  2. Irregular boney point surface shapes left & right.

In other words, the bones we sit on are not smooth or evenly shaped mirror images.

Our film studies identified three distinctive or opposing left and right side pelvic girdle motions that take place with each pedal crank rotation;

  1. Vertical.
  2. Rocking.
  3. Angular.
